Ceremony of awarding Certificates of Specialised Training
of the KEDIBIM programs

On Thursday 23/2/2023, the awarding of Certificates of Specialized Training of the programs of the Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIBIM) of NTUA “Inspection and Structural Evaluation of Bridges and Engineering Works” was held at the Ceremonial Hall of the Polytechnic City of Zografou, with Professor of the School of Civil Engineering Mr. “Study – Design – Construction – Construction – Control of Low Voltage Electrical Installations” with Associate Professor of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mr. I. Gonos and “Static Function & Design of Structural Structures” with Emeritus Professor of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Mr. L. Stavridis as Scientific Supervisor.

The programm “Inspection and Structural Evaluation of Bridges and Engineering Works” (the first cycle of which has been successfully completed) trains civil engineers specifically for the inspection and evaluation of bridges and engineering works, in order to successfully implement the relevant national standards that are currently being finalised and to transfer the principles of inspection and evaluation to the wider field of management of in-service concrete and steel engineering works.

Awarding of Certificates of the program “Inspection and Structural Evaluation of Bridges and Technical Projects” by the President and CEO of “Olympia Odos SA” and “Gefira SA” Mr. P. Papanikolas and by Emeritus Professor of NTUA Mr. I. Vagia.

The programm includes among others:

  • The scope, methods, frequency, locations and objectives of the inspection of bridges and engineering works to be carried out in the field after completion of construction and throughout their operation, called “visual inspection”.
  • The methods of collecting, recording and processing the findings of these inspections.
  • The scope, methods and objectives for assessing the structural and functional adequacy of bridges and engineering works on the basis of the findings of the field inspections.
  • Practical training on four representative bridges, where the trainees will inspect, record and process the findings and assess the structural and functional adequacy of the bridges.

The ceremony was attended by the Dean of NTUA Prof. Boudouvis, the President of KEDIBIM and Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Education Professor I. Hadjigeorgiou and lecturers of the three programmes.
