On Thursday 9 June 2022, the award ceremony for the postgraduate diplomas of the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Athens for the graduates of 2019, 2020 and 2021 was successfully held at the amphitheatre of the Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park. This ceremony took place after two years during which it was not possible to hold events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 200 graduates of the two Postgraduate Programmes of the Faculty of Civil Engineering received their degrees. The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme “Structural Design and Analysis of Structures” has been running for 24 years. It started as a pilot in 1998, when it was founded, and since 2007 it has been operating simultaneously with the Greek and the English direction of the Program with the title “Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures”. By the year 2021 a total of 870 engineers graduated, including more than 25 foreigners. The ceremony was addressed by the Vice Rector of Administrative Affairs, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of NTUA, Professor D. Gintidis, the Vice Rector of Finance, Planning and Development of NTUA and Director of the D. Professor E. Sapountzakis, Director of the MSc “Structural Design and Analysis of Structures” and Professor A. Stamos, Director of the MSc “Water Resources Science and Technology”. The speakers referred to the success of the Programmes, the excellent performance of the graduates, their excellent cooperation with the teaching staff and the high level of knowledge they acquire, which is the main objective of the Institution.
The Vice Rector, the Directors of the Postgraduate Programmes and the present Professors awarded the Diplomas of Postgraduate Studies and congratulated the graduates in the Auditorium of the Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park, full of relatives and friends, who honoured the event with their presence. The MSc “Structural Design and Analysis of Structures” offers systematic immersion in the scientific field of civil engineering along with global knowledge and interaction of theory and practice, in a field that is constantly evolving, competitive and requires constant updating. Efforts are currently being made to expand the Programme’s extroversion, aiming both at teaching all the courses offered in English and at achieving strategic partnerships with internationally recognised institutions abroad.
